Corrupt file error

Just built my new comp and so far im only having one software issue ( knock on wood). I download some programs such as winamp, firefox, my new sapphire drivers and when i try to install i get an error saying " this is a corrupt file , try and download from the manufaturer again, could possibly be over ridden through something " not reccomended". Obviously thats not verbatum but along those lines.

Is this some kind of windows security thing i need to turn off or what?

I have win xp pro SP2

Thanks
Darrell
