Problem with XP when changing motherboard
I have a PC with ASUS P2B motherboard and it runs fine for couple of years with Windows XP.
I tried to change to a faster ASUS CUV4X motherboard but use the same hard drive with Windows XP. When I powered up with the CUV4X boar, after POST I got a flash of a blue screen and then the PC reboot. The blue screen flashed so fast that I cannot read the content. The PC will just reboot continuously with the CUV4X board. I know the CUV4X is a good board because it came from a working machine. However, when I switched the old P2B board back into the PC, the PC booted correctly into Windows XP. What causes this problem and how do I fix it? |

You needto reformat when changing motherboards, you could of tried deleting all the motherboard drivers within windows, prior to changing the motherboard, and allow windows to reinstall new drivers, re-formatting is the much better option, that is a totally clean install.

No, you do not need to reformat. A repair reinstall of XP will take care of it just fine.
