can't right-click on desktop

i can't right click my desktop, but i can right click everything else.

windows xp home sp2 fully updated.

i have adaware pro, spybot, zonealarm pro, norton 2005, cwshredder, and microsoft's anti-spyware. all report clean.

nothing. no error messages. just nothing.

can't be the mouse settings, because i can right-click everywhere else BUT the desktop.
