XP Pro load time

I recently replaced the hard drive in an HP Pavilion xt375 laptop and installed XP Pro - the laptop has 512 RAM and a 2.2 GH processor - but it takes no less than 15 minutes for the operating system to load each time the laptop is turned on. I can't figure it out.

Did you try safe mode?? Also on the alternate boot options menu that you access by pressing F8, there is an option called boot logging or something to that effect, and if you try that one you'll likely see what is taking so long..
