how to stream an application in a win 2000 LAN?
Hello everybody
I'm writing from Greece ,so please excuse my poor English. I'm facing the following issue. i'm teaching Several applications (such as VB and office) at a school which is equiped with 10 pc s connected in a win 2000 LAN.What i want to do is be able to work with the application i'm teaching( for example , create and program a form in VB) in my computer , and at the same time my students be able to watch IN THEIR OWN monitors what i'm doing in MY computer. And i mean just watch not be able to interfere.I guess it's like streaming a video tutorial , which is not pre-recorded but is being created by me on the fly and at the same time broadcasted via the LAN. Terminal services is not what i need.I know there is commercial software such as "Netop School" that does what i want , but i prefer a tool or service that is embedded in win 2000 ( such as terminal services or telnet) or at least a freeware tool that i can install. I hope i was descriptive enough Any help would be deeply appreciated Thanks for your time john |

You won't find anything imbedded or free, if you're looking for remote control software. One piece of software I've worked with is ZenWorks. There was another piece of software that had great potential, but was a little buggy at the time. I can't remember the name of it, unfortunately.

Thanks for the post Force Flow...
Isn't Terminal Services considered remote desktop? I've been told that NetMeeting might do what i want! Anyone has an opinion? |

Here's some info on terminal servies: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000...s/terminal.asp
Sure, is a remote desktop sort of application, but if you wanted that, you might as well take a look at a flavor of VNC (I tend to like ultraVNC). Either way, I don't think it will achieve what you're trying to do. NetMeeting is for video conferencing and VoIP, as far as I know. |

Netmeeting should do what you want as I understand your question. Netmeeting comes with Win2000 Pro (not sure about non Pro). Look under start->programs->accessories->communications->netmeeting.
It may not be the easiest thing to set up if you don't have a directory server but it is possible. It should work fine with only 10 pcs on a local lan. We use it all the time at work for things just like this. You can either share your desktop or application window, you decide if the others pcs have any control or not. |
