We need to know what video card or onboard video, or motherboard you are using. If this is a store bought unit like Dell or Gateway, post the model number.

Here is a link to my mother board
http://www.fic.com.tw/product/mother...cy&model_id=45 I have the driver cd for my mother board . installation of the driver provided by my mother board manufacture was not finished . it was still useing the one that the "new hardware wizard" came up with . that was the one i deleted.I dont know if i can use the mother board driver to set it up or not .Guss i need a restore cd "I dont know". i pulled the hard drive out of a older computer and hooked it up to a better mother board and cpu. When you bought a system with windows 98 se did it come with a cd labeled "via windows9x/me display driver disk".That is the disk it s asking for .Is that all in one restore cd ?? it is asking for two files that i know of .... "trid_p3d.cat" "tdispcht.cnt" may be more dont know that is far as i can get without the cd . |

That motherboard has a "Trident 3d" graphics engine built into the chipset. It uses up to 8mb of shared system memory.
The drivers should indeed be on the CD that came with the motherboard. When you get the error, use the "Browse" button to point to the drivers on the CD [have the CD already in the drive first]. Or just run the setup for the motherboard's drivers that autostarts. _____________________ Next time you do a motherboard upgrade for a Win9x based system, check out the "Enum Trick" thread in the Tips & Tricks forum here at PC Mechanic: it can save you a lot of time. Here's a link to that thread: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=9254 The Enum Trick helps Windows get through detecting the new hardware. If your current computer doesn't have MS Office 2000 on it, you can use Microsoft's RegClean 4.1 to clean up the Registry [RegClean is incompatible with Office 2000]. Or try a third party tool like CCleaner, available at sites like download.com and elsewhere. These utilities are generally free of charge. Best of luck . . . Gary |
