Hitachi Software help
Ok i just installed my new Hitachi SATA 2 harddrive and everything is great, however, in order to get it to go to the 3.0 speed, i have to run the hitachi ftool program. The problem is i dont have a floppy drive and they dont have instructions on how to run it from a cd.
Could someone help this idot out in doing this. How do i get this to run from a cd. "feature tool" http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm says download a cd image and thats what i did. Do i still have to have a floppy. Thanks Darrell |

Download the CD image (it's an .iso), open it in your CD burning software (Nero, Roxio, whatever) and burn it. You can't just burn the file to the CD, it has to be treated as a disk image and opened in the software. In Nero Express, it's "disk image or saved project". The CD will be bootable.

Well thank you , that did work .
Is anyone familiar with this particular program. I have an Asus A8n-sli and the only way to turn Sata 2 on this HD is through this program ,, that i know of. HOWEVER: the program searches for the HD but cannont find it. Any help would be appreciated. |

What CD burning software do you have, and exactly what steps did you do to create the CD?
If you download the Ultimate Boot CD, it has the Hitachi Feature Tool 1.97 on it if that version is capable of doing what you need. http://ubcd.sourceforge.net/ Honestly, it may be a lot simpler to spend the $10 for a floppy drive. If you don't want to install it in your case, you don't have to, you can take the side off and connect it when you need it and support it on a cardboard box or something, keep it in the drawer when you aren't using it. |
