Windows 98SE won't install

My Grandson wants Windows 98SE installed on his computer that I built for him sometime back. Right now it has Windows XP Home on one drive and nothing on the other drive. What I have tried to do was install Windows 98SE on an empty drive and can't seem to get past the format screen. It acts as if there is no installation disk in the cd drive, but there is one. I wanted to install the 98SE on the first drive and then re-install or repair the Windows XP drive, so that he would get the choice of OPS upon start-up. But it doesn't install the Windows 98SE at all. Any suggestions? His system is an ASUS A7N266-VM Motherboard, AMD Thunderbird 933MHZ CPU, 512 mb of DDR 2100 Ram, 2 Western Digital HHD, Lit-on CDRW and Lite-on DVD Rom. Any help would certainly be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jon-Dee

Remove the drive with XP on it and then format and install 98 to the other drive after setting it as master.

You might have to prepare the drive first or use a boot disk before you can install. Try following this guide http://www.waynescomputerworld.com/cleaninstall.html I have used it to guide me through a fresh 98 install.

Yes, that guide is pretty good, I think PR was the one who directed it to me and I installed 98 with it no problems too.
