Can't run DOS batch File

My daughter has a Dell laptop Dimesnsion 5150, 2.8 mgh, pent 4, running Windows XP pro --- folly updated.

She got a homework disk fro a professor with a simple batch file. It runs fine on my system (Win XP Pro, pent 4 3.4 ghz), fine on my old system (pent 2 300 mgz Win 98 SE) and fine on her roommates system (all Win XP Home).

When my daughter trie to run it, the firt screen opens but then she gets a message..."C:\Windows\Syestem32\AUTOEXEC.NT The System file is not siutablefor running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windowsapplications. Choose "CLOSE" to terminate the application."

You can choose CLOSE or IGNORE. If you click IGNORE, it just opens the first window again and and give you the same error again.

Like I said, we know the file is OK, since it works on 6 machines that we know of, and everyone else in her class has no problem with it.

Any ideas on what to try???

Send a message via MSN to doctorgonzo
What's in the batch file? It would help if you posted the contents.

Yankee fan - I have changed the instant e-mail notification to thread replies option in your profile to do not notify. Your spam filter is constantly requesting permission for us to send you e-mail. I would have handled this by private message, but you are not allowing those either, I apologize for any possible embarrassment.

- Admin -

Galaxian's fix will take care of your problem. Galaxian - if they have one for Windows 2000, would you please post a link to that one too, and actually put them both in Tips and Tricks? This is a common issue, and the link I used to use is now dead.
