Change Order of Drives at Start Up (ME)

Hi From Texas!
I am running Windows ME. When I start up my computer it shows XP at the top and ME at the bottom. I want ME at the top. What the deal is , is that I use ME. I want to be able to start the computer and it logs in to ME. If I should walk away from the computer, it will log in to XP and I have to start ALL over again and be sure I stay at the computer to hit Enter Tab that takes it on down to ME . (it is a black screen with white lettering [fonts]).------------Don

I believe in your root directory there will be a file called boot.ini and in there you will see the 2 operating system choices and can see and change which one is the default.

It's easier to boot into XP, go into control panel, system, advanced, startup and recovery, and change the default OS there. You can also shorten the timeout value from the default 30 seconds.

Thanks ktkendall and glc !

Thank you both for your reply. Is what I did was to boot into XP like glc said. I did go to controlpanel> System >Advanced. There it was(on my version of XP) right at the top, a bar showing the default OS to boot up.There was a drop down scroll arrow which I clicked on that showed a list of all OSs. There I saw ME and clicked on that which made it my new default boot up. It now showed up in the bar instead of XP. All of this was in my brain but I couldn't remember it until glc brought it to light.----Thanks guys-My Best----Donald
