Computer Keeps Restarting

Just started a day or two ago... my mouse for my computer kept working, then it stopped working, so I tried restarting. Now when I try to turn it on, it just restarts right before the window's login screen comes up... I tried starting it up in safe mode and it still restarts. I don't have a system restore disk either so I can't reformat.

Any ideas?

it could be a faulty psu, or uer mobo is touching the case and shortening...but then again if u didnt touch nothing its probably software-wise. if u have win xp and have uer xp disk u should pop it in and click i believe R and that should help

No, you misunderstood me. I never got a Windows CD for some reason, just never came with one... and I can't run a virus scan because I can't get on my computer... it restarts everytime before it gets to the Windows login screen.

System details, please. You may have a restore partition and a bios key sequence to do a restore. This is common on newer brand name computers. Their tech support should be able to tell you exactly how to do it.

System Details

I have a Gateway 420GR.

Processor - Pentium 4 | 2.93 GHZ
RAM - 512 MB DDR
GFX Card - Radeon X700 Pro
Windows XP Home Edition

Called tech support, all they said was that they didn't know what to do since it restarts on boot and that a Windows CD should be here on Tuesday (Today). Didn't come yet... I'll call and ask them about the bios key sequence restore.

If you buy a computer now a days they don't come with Restoration Disk you have to burn one and virus scan use a software that bootable without the help of windows.

Sounds like a ram problem. get a copy of "memtest" and run it. If any ram is gone bad it will find it. next thing is to disconnect peripherals and try a minimu bootup. a bad cdrom or dvd will cause restarts.
