WIN 2000 pro and Broadband

I have got a refurbished computer today and it is running WIN 2000 pro, I went to install my broadband modem (usb conection sagem 800 fast) when I put the cd in the drive it said " tiscali.exe has errors on it and windows will now shut the program please restart this program" I tried starting it a couple of times and it still did the same, I then tried the cd in another computer and it worked fine. Thinking the cd drive may be at fault I installed another software program which worked fine, it is only my broadband cd that won't install. I have never used WIN 2000 before I have only used 98 se and the computer that I tested the cd in was running xp, but i have installed it on 98 se as well before.
Help I don't know what to do!

Do you have an Ethernet output on your modem and an Ethernet adapter in your computer? If so, if your DSL is PPPoE, all you need is a PPPoE client.

Then I think I'd call Tiscali for assistance.

already called them, and they said the disc itself was at fault, however, i actually tested the disc on my dads machine and it was found to be working perfectly after i called them, i then caleed them back after testing the disc and still say the disc is to blame, i think there is a problem with some form of software installer in the win 2000 o/s, so im still baffled and none the wiser!

If they think the disk is bad, let them send you a new one and try it. The CD drive in that machine may have a dusty lens or weak laser and is having problems reading the CD - and a new one with no scratches or fingerprints may read okay.
