Removal of M.S. Messenger software.

SUBJECT: Safe removal of older version of Microsoft Messenger software,
prior to the installation of the newer version of
Microsoft Messenger software.

Nature of Problem: With prior hard drives, after the installation of the usual
programs, I'd endup with two versions
of the same software.
In order to prevent this from happening again ...

Request for Insturction: How do I safely remove the older version of
Micorsoft Messenger software, prior
to the installation of the newer version
of the same software?

Thank You.

Awaiting your repsonse.

RedSword.

Are you sure you are getting 2 versions of Microsoft Messenger or are you getting Windows Messenger 4.xx and MSN Messenger 7.xx together?

If that is the case; go to START > RUN > and type/paste in the following:
PHP Code:
 RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%INFmsmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
When you restart the next time, MSN messenger might do an automatic reinstall or there might be a message about wanting to clean up Windows messenger personalized settings. Just say yes and that's it.
