My Network Places keeps appearing on my desktop

I can see My Network Places on my desktop and I don't want it there. I have right clicked it and deleted it from the desktop and it will go away. When I reboot it will be there again. I right click my wallpaper and went to properties, than to desktop and than to customize desktop. The box for "My Network Places" is unchecked and i hit ok and it is still there. Whats the problem. I am not on a network with Pcs so I don't need this icon. how do i disable it?

Good Link Macko. The first item in the link Macko has will get you where you want to be.

GEt the TweekUI and it will let you remove the displayed Network Icon from your desktop.

I really don't want to mess around with my registry for this problem. Is there not a simple way... the disclaimer makes me nervous...

Why don't you just move it to a corner of the screen or something?

I have my desktop on the taskbar... I have had it ever since windows ME and Im accustomed to it. You can't really "hide" anything on the taskbar... you will always see it. And its just one of those things that drives me nuts... I want a solution not a way to cover it up... its wierd why it won't go away
