Fatal error window when booting ME
I have windows ME on one of my computers and just recently I get this window pop up at boot up saying "Fatal error with configuration files in my system" but nevertheless the comp goes on to boot up and runs okay.
How do I get rid of this annoying pop up window that comes up every time I boot the computer. Everything seems to be working okay just this stupid message keep coming up. Please help its driving me mad.

The quick and easy answer would be to run a System Restore to a restore point from before the error window's first appearance.
You might want to boot that machine into Safe Mode, and run full system anti-malware scans as thoroughly as possible. If you truly do have corruption in your Registry or other system files, it could be virus-related, faulty installation of new hardware/software, or failing hardware (you can run diagnostics on your hard drive & memory). Thanks gary, will run pconpoint and see if that helps. dont have the restore feature enabled in ME cos it never seems to work when I need it. Virus scan doesn't show any virus's on the computer. Will keep working on it.
