A restore is not a cleap-sweep; it will not remove all documents, recycle bin etc. either. And it is not a failsafe method of removing a virus. Regarding if its possible to go back to that early a stage; might be . .if that restore point is there; if the computer has been running XP for a while, forget about it .. its not going to be there because, XP has a certain amount of space allocated for restore; depending on the space that has been allocated - XP will choose what and how much to restore as well. It will also overwrite old restore points based on the space. If you truly want a clean system a clean install of XP is the way to go.
