help again. svchost.exe

So the reason why my computer is so slow is because svchost.exe is taking up all the cpu usage. I have 5 svchost.exe's and one of them keeps going to 99% after I've been online for a while. It's really slowing down my computer. I've tried scanning for virus but it didn't find anything. I've also tried stinger, fixwelch and fixblast but it didn't find any worms. This is really annoying me. Can I get some help please?

I don’t think this should be in the hard drive forum, but go here http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilitie...sExplorer.html download process explorer, this utility will allow you to see what services svchost is hosting. Just right click an svshost, go to properties and then the services tab, then you can go from there.

I did that and under the service tab is RpcSs Remote Procedure call(RPC)
I can't stop that process, or can I?

No, you don’t want to stop RPC, almost every service depends on it. One instance of svchost should be dedicated to running just that service alone, the others will be hosting various ones. You need to look at them all, if you want to know what a service is/does look it up here http://majorgeeks.com/page.php?id=12

Please post in the appropriate forum, not just the one at the top of the list. Moved appropriately.

If you don't have any malware running then you have a legitimate program going rogue.
What's running on your machine that can do that?
It would almost have to be something that runs constantly in the background and runs "real time" like your spyware blocker or firewall or anti-virus or perhaps some kind of monitoring program or news updater.
Norton has an evil rep is this regard as does McAfee.
You have to be really careful how you set them up and even so you may still have trouble.
