Ok, when I try and remove my MP3 player (iRiver H340, btw its amazing), as well as my USB Memory Stick I always get the message that the USB device cannot be stopped right now. The next time I try it it disconnects with no problem.
I believe this is a very widespread problem, and I have seen it on countless computers as well as mine. I guess my real question is is there a fix to this minor inconveinance, and if there isn't, well why not?!!! I mean Microsoft must know about this, and it seems like a software problem so why the heck does this problem still exist? Its been a problem for years... anyone have any idea? Peace, Steve |

It's protecting you. There may still be activity, if you remove it too fast, you may get corruption. The "fix" is to close any Explorer windows that have the drive in it and close any software that was being used with the drive before attempting an eject.

Have you tried optimizing the USB drive for quick removal? It might help.. go to the device manager and under policies for the drive you can set it for quick removal.
