XP Shutdown!!! Again???

I need help on my XP Pro. Last time, it had this 60-second shutdown menace.. I thought that I've already fixed it by installing XP SP1 and SP2. Now, it shuts without warning every now and then..and restarts the computer..I have observed that this always happened every time I'm connected to the internet. Anybody out there has an idea regarding this matter???

Does it shut down or restart? Normally, the default setting is for Auto Restart on major errors. Shutting down could be excessive cpu heat or a fan not working and the shut down is protective. Is this a home built or store bought machine? How bout some specs or model info?

I once was having the same trouble. The problem was on RPC service. About a minute or so after connected to internet my computer forcedly restarted. Try looking in event viewer, to know what's the problem. But actually I don't know how to resolve such thing. I reinstalled windows, no change. It was on my old P III system. I don't know that somehow it's unstable, after I checked it in Administrative Tool's Service and tried prolonging the time of self restarting, there were times when the problem didn't occur.
Anyway, sorry for not providing any solutions 4 u...

You both need to do a thorough virus scan. This sounds like Sasser or similar.
