Packard crap
Guys , a friend has given me his packard bell to install a new dvd writer and tv card . Hes also asked me to reformat it . Now there is no xp disk !! he said he never got one. This is the same as my sisters pc , and she never got one either. Its bad enough paying well over the odds for a system that realistically would cost half of what it does , but why has it not got the xp disk ???? and how do i reformat it ?

Usually, when you buy a computer, the company you buy it from gives you a disks to restore the computer to the factory conditions. They dont give you the operating system.
If you cant find the CD that came with the computer, you might have to send it in. |

Isnt the red restore disk only for drivers and that.???? Surely if you a £1000 system , you must get the os disk ?????. Whats the point of the cd key stuck to the side then ?

You may need to use F8 to get to the boot option screen. There you should find a Restore Option that will allow you to return the pc to the same way it was when received from the manufacturer. This is done from a partition that is hidden on the hard drive. This is different from the Restore from the last know good configuration option. That's one of the short comings of store bought machines with XP preinstalled. You don't get the full XP disk and therefore are unable to do a repair install. |
