Removing OS Selection During Bootup Question

I recently installed a fresh copy of Windows 2000 Professional on a 10 gig partition on my 80 gig hard drive (drive c: = 10 gig drive d: = 70 gig). Now, I'm encountering a "Please select your operating system" just before Windows 2000 Pro loads. The first option on the list is Windows 2000. The second is rather odd. It indicates that it's another operating system but it's not DOS. The computer just crashes when I select the second option.

Is there a way to remove this "Please select your operating system" option during bootup?

The file you're looking to edit is called boot.ini and it's in the C: root directory.
There is a safer way to edit that file which I have forgotten, because if you hose that file up you'll not boot at all, but basically you just want to remove the faulty OS choice from that file..

what it looks like

Your boot.ini will look something like this:
Quote:
[boot loader]
timeout=7
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Media Center Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP 64-bit" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
Just remove the second OS line.

What line exactly? My apologies since I'm an idiot when it comes to these things.
