Using Windows XP Home, AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+, 2.01 GHz, 512MB RAM. System has been running fine until recently. Have encountered a problem whereby some frames of Internet pages are not displaying, but showing empty, except for a small white square in the upper left-hand corner of the frame containing a smaller red square, green circle, and blue triangle. Perhaps some sort of script error -- I don't know??? I have uninstalled and reinstalled Java, and uninstalled and reinstalled Macromedia Flash -- just to try something. Have also run Ad-Aware and Spybot. No luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Are you using IE or an alternative browser? Sounds like an image placeholder. If you have a Ad-blocker active, it could be stopping the images from loading. There are also some settings in IE, "show pictures", and "show image download placeholders" (try placing checkmarks in these if not already checked) that affect some frames, possibly displaying .gifs....
If you've an older version of IE, you could update (or alternatively: repair - IE can be repaired from Add/Remove Software). Some users of IE add-ons like Maxthon & MyIE2 seem to experience little glitches like this from time to time. Best of luck . . .
