Background files missing...
Hello. I'm currently using Windows XP sp2...
A few hours a ago, while looking at the computer calendar, I accidentally changed the date to 2012 and didn't change it back. Then I d/l'ed a program called 'Flyakite' that makes the windows interface look like a Macintosh OS... After rebooting, the interface changed as intended, but I noticed that an avi file on my background was missing... I didn't think much of it, and as the new interface had problems showing the system tray, I uninstalled and rebooted. When it finished rebooting, the avi file was still missing... I checked the folders on my background and... all of my doc, jpg, avi etc files were gone... only the folders and some exe files remained... I decided to do a system restore, at which point I realized that the date was still 2012... there wasn't a restore point for 2012, so I changed the date back to 2005 and did a system restore for this morning. The system restore was successful, but the files on the background were still missing... I checked my c drive, and luckily all the files were intact... I checked the space on my hdd, and I had an extra 20 gigs... which meant that ALL of my files that were ONLY on the background got deleted... So I did a system restore for 2 days ago, and also for 1 week ago, but the jpg etc files still didn't appear.... I don't understand what caused this... all I know for sure is that the files disappeared after installing the 'Flyakite' program... and that during this sequence the date on my computer was set at 2012... Any info would be appreciated... thanks in advance... |

thanks for the reply
![]() I tried it on my hdd, but an error message appears... It seems the program is only used for finding deleted files on memory sticks or digital cameras etc, and not hdd's... |
