Migrating Outlook Express settings to a new PC
I am upgrading my Dad's office to Windows XP, and he uses Outlook Express for his e-mail. He has a lot of folders and contacts in Outlook Express on his old PC, I was wondering if there is a way to move all the settings to the new PC? The PCs are networked togother and share a hard-drive.
TIA, L J

Hi Col.Sanders .. there was a similar thread about it a while back, that I'd responded to. The thread is available here: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=134712
From my specific post: http://forum.pcmech.com/showpost.php...04&postcount=6 for step 1: I would suggest that, first the accounts be created. One easy way to do it is to first Export the mail settings (I'll outline them as 1a, 1b etc etc for clarity) 1a) For Mail settings: On the old computer, Open OE go to Tools > Accounts > Mail tab > EXPORT; now export to your common harddrive as "mailaccnt1.iaf" .. do any other accnts as required. Close OE here. 1b) For mail settings: On the new computer, open OE go to Tools > Accounts > Mail tab > IMPORT; just import the file mailaccnt1.iaf 1c) For address book: On the old computer go to the folder - C:\Documents and Settings\theUserName\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book and copy all the files on there to your shared HDD. 1d) On the new computer: Close Outlook express. Open Explorer and copy the files you have on the temp HDD to C:\Documents and Settings\UserName_on_new_computer\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book The rest of the steps should be the same... |

Windows Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. It is at all programs-accessories-system tools. You hook the two machines together with a serial file transfer cable or you can use the network. Click on connecting your computers on the first screen when the wizard opens for how instructions onto set it up. You can transfer whatever you want to the new machine.
