Windows64 Modem Driver?
Hello all. I am trying to find Drivers for my Modem. Just finished building my first AMD64 system. I cant seem to locate Drivers for the Modem. Its a Creative Blaster 56k PCI. Yes I did check with Ceative and couldnt find them. Other than that it runs fine.
Thanks Chris |

From what I've seen, it looks like they don't plan to release a driver until 4th Quarter 2006 for their analog PCI modems. Here's a chart: http://ask.americas.creative.com/wwe...ver_matrix.htm
You could try sending Creative's support an email question to see if things might have been accellerated a bit since that chart was made. That's the only problem I've had with Creative products = they've always seemed slow to provide updated drivers. Best of luck . . . Gary |

Thanks. They do make Great products. They do have Drivers for the Audigy2 ZS Cards in XP64. Thats my only problem now. I even tried Windows Generic Drivers. But it only lets me select ports that the Modem is not on. #2,3. I belive its Com 4.
I did drop them an E-mail. Takes awhile for a response. Nvidia does have the XP64 Drivers for my NForce3 250 chipset. Wonder why GigaByte didnt put them on the disc with the Mobo.? Only the 32 Bit apps. Which is dumb considerring the board was built for 64Bit. Chris |

Maybe you should buy a modem that has XP64 support.
Yes, Creative does make quality products, but their modems aren't. Very few manufacturers make quality modems any more, most of them are cheap software controlled modems. USR has one PCI (5610B) and one external serial (5686E) with XP64 support. They are both full hardware modems and are NOT cheap. Quote:
I think all you folks that are jumping into 64 bit Windows are jumping the gun. Wait till there are actual applications written for 64 bit Windows and driver support catches up. Last edited by glc; 11-05-2005 at 12:00 PM. |

USR is short for US Robotics, which I believe is in the 3Com family of companies. Here's their U.S. homepage http://www.usr.com/home.asp
They are generally considered the best maker of hardware modems (which have a controller on the circuit board - rather than through software). . . .
