I've also tried to reformat again, but no luck...when i do a quick format i can get to the windows GUI setup but it says something along the lines of can't find sector. When i do it the long way, it takes about 7/8 hrs and i get the same hal.dll problem

Break the RAID and run Powermax on the drives. If they test good, then zero them out with Powermax and reconfigure the RAID. If you still have problems, test the ram with Memtest86+.

www.maxtor.com
www.memtest.org

You are pressing F6 and installing the RAID driver, right?

i tried the powermax like you said, i downloaded the bootable iso one, but when i put it in my cd drive, nothing happens, i do have it put first in my boot sequence, and i have disabled RAID. I guess i'll see if i can test them on my other computer i guess

You have to open the iso in your burning software as an image, you can't just burn the iso as a file. If you have a floppy drive, download the floppy maker.

guess it looks like one of my hd's is failing, im getting a deaca871 diagnostic code (whatever that means)...but i guess i'll RMA it to either Maxtor or NCIX. I guess ill try using the 1 working hard drive until a replacement comes and i can go about using my RAID

If you reinstall on a single drive, you will have to wipe it again to add the second drive as raid.

But looks like I can't even do that...cause now im getting a Fatal error on the good drive, the windows GUI part of the install comes up and it can't find the sector of the hard drive windows is on.....I swear i built the perfect computer for troubleshooting, this is getting really frustrating..

If still having trouble did you try this approach recommended by MS. I had hal.dll and this was the fix that worked.
