splat Securom in win home and pro x64

i bought a copy of Star Wars Battlefront II with securom and before i started playing, i made a backup for emergencies. Only prob was 2 days later i accidentally dropped it onto a wooden floor and it got scratched. Somene told me that securom didnt like backup disks, and so you needed to put the image onto a virtual drive and use a program to hide the cds so i could play the game i'd bought. It worked fine on my older win home machine, but when i try the exact same thing on a win pro x64 it doesnt work, any help?

You can try e-mailing Securom support http://www.securom.com/support.asp

Since your situation has undoubtably come up for others, seems like they'd have a solution. Can't hurt to try: it's a legitimate question, and you paid real money for the game.

Mention that you're running WinXP 64 in your email = I didn't see it mentioned specifically as supported [it just says "XP", but doesn't mention versions].

If the answer might help others in the same spot, post their reply here, and we'll all learn.

Best of luck
. . . Gary

[P.S. -- Hmm - I took a quick look at the Star Wars Battlefront II forum over at LucasArts, and there's a post which mentions that the game isn't officially compatible with WinXP 64. Here's the quote:

"Im running Windows XP 64x Dual core proc, with an Nvidia 7800GT gfx card.
Have problems launching the game, the screen goes black then bombs out
back to the desktop after about 5 seconds. I can get into the game but it crashes after the 1st level completion cutscene. it will crash out to the desktop in betweeen game cut scences.
Has this problem been reported by anyone else yet.

I emailed Lucasarts and they said 64x OS isnt supported!!! Unbelievable, this technology has been around for over 12 months."

And here's a link to the forum, this quote is about five or six posts from the top, dated November 3, 2005 http://forums.lucasarts.com/thread.j...90992&tstart=0 ]
