Question re difference

Is Win2000 or NT more like XP? Which one or both or neither? This has to do with the preferences in a game. It lists both 2000 and NT, but not XP. Thanks so much in advance. I surely do hope someone knows the answer for certain and not just guessing.

Neither IMO
What do you mean by preferences in a game?? Are you trying to run in compatibility mode, or what??

Windows XP is closer to 2000 than it is to NT. The evolution of Windows was Windows NT -> Windows 2000 -> Windows XP.

Win2000 and WinXP are both based on the WinNT kernel. Win2000 is more of a business OS and WinXP is more of a home user OS. WinXP is probaby more game friendly than Win2000.

What game are you trying to run?

Yes, compatibility mode.... it's an old game and plays well with XP, except for a small glitch at the beginning. The compatibility mode is not checked in preferences, but lists choices of 95/98/Nt/2000.

Thanks. I may not do anything and just play it like it is.

Are you using Windows compatibility mode, or is there a setting within the game itself for what version of Windows you are running? Based on your question, I thought it was the latter, but if it is the former, then just try all the compatibility modes to see if one works better or not.

Oddly enough, (but is anything odd when dealing with Windows? haha) the slight glitch has stopped and the game is running great left alone. It hasn't been set in any compatibility mode, but I'd thought if I set it in one, it would eliminate the glitch.... well, thanks anyway. The game is Patolli. Had just recently moved it to my new pc w/XP from old which ran 98.
