CAL question

why is it that some 20-user cal packs (per device for windows 2003 server standard) say CAL's only, and say they come with NO MEDIA CD's

i wasnt aware that a media cd was needed to install extra cals... i thought you just punched in the numbers into the CAL server.

can someone explain that to me?

That just means that those licenses are for existing installs of Windows 2003 server; they don't come with the CDs to install the OS itself.

o,
isnt that obvious though, they shouldnt have to list that then, because they are obviousyly not gonna sell you a disk to a program you didnt buy a license for

is there a cal pack thats bigger than 20?

It's explicit because you can buy license packs with the OS install media; that's what you would have to buy if you just bought a new server and were installing Windows 2003 Server on it for the first time. Newegg sells this with 5 licenses: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832102227

If you are just adding licenses to an existing Server setup, you don't need the media, just the licenses.
