Start/task bar menue freezes; computer slows.
Windows XP server pack2
AMD Athlon XP 1.8Ghz; 256MB RAM. My start menu task bar is frozen out, and when I try to browse "My Computer" it just searches, and doesn't respond. Could this be a corrupted explorer.exe? I've ran my PC Cillin anti-virus twice; no virus's scanned. Spybot and Adaware do not catch any harmful spyware. The computer tends to open programs slow, but once executed, they run like normal most of the time (except multi-tasking). I've ran in safe mode, and computer states that the hard drive is trouble free in the troubleshooting menu. I even did a nasty disable explorer.exe in the taskpanel and re-ran it. Nope, still have this issue. I'm thinking about re-formatting, but first I just want opinions on this issue. Please don't talk over my head, gotten that enough from other forums, and this is my last effort |

System restore point doesn't go back far enough; I thought there was one where you can restore it to it's begginings? If reformating is in my near future, I'll have to learn about that..
