Big Blue ??
Oh Boy!
This one is shaping up to be a doozy! I have a Win2K Server that is running exchange. When I checked it this morning, it was running but I could not click on any desktop items, nor could I click Start (including hitting the button on the keyboard) to access the menu. It was as if the computer was frozen. After getting fet up, I just powered the bad boy down doing a cold boot. After it powered back up (fairly quickly if you ask me), it gave me a login screen and allowed me in. I am still unable to access any desktop items. I tried to logoff (by hitting cntrl+alt+del) and now all I have is a light blue screen. I am not sure if it is the blue screen of death or just the background color without the desktop icons. Before I do shut the bad boy off again and power it up, does anybody have any suggestions on what I should look for? I will look and post the event log should anything be posted. Thanks for the assist! |

Ok, my first thing would be to start in safe mode and see what happens and take it from there. Any event log errors including Event ID and description will be helpful of course.
I assume you are running updated AV and Spyware apps. It could also be hardware related. Vid and NIC would be my first suspects. You didn`t mention any hardware or software changes or updates just prior to the problem but if there were any that is also a prime suspect. |
