Exclamation After install of XP I am prompted to pick the OS to start

After I formatted and installed Win XP Pro at the dos bootup I am prompted to pick an OS to start. They both say Windows XP. I know there is a way to stop that but do not remember how. Can ya give a brain fart a hand?

I did this one as many have befor me, problem was you though it was formated, or an error occured when installed and you restarted the setup. But nevertheless it happened.

Well you ahve the option of deleting the old windows folder so it no longer appears. (Looks like Windows, the Windows.0 is prolly your current one that your running.

Modifying your boot.ini (Right click on My Computer, Advanced Tab, Start and recovery, then the options button) CREATE A BACK UP of your boot.ini file first.

You can always create a new boot.ini, from your xp cd.

Its been a long time sice I've done this or have been on these forums. So I may be wronge. I'm just waiting for a second opinion..

No it WAS formatted. When I booted from the CD I removed all partitions and let Windows create the partition and I selected a full NTFS format. Editing the boot.ini file is what I think I needed.

I found it. Right click My Computer>go to Properties>Click Advanced>click Settings Under Startup & Recovery>remove the check from the display time box.
