Activation of Windows XP
I loaded a windows XP pro onto my rig to test it. I had previously received the Pro OEM disc for my fiance's computer as a gift so I cannot activate the OS on my new rig. Question is can I buy a windows home edition and use the CD key to use in activating the installed OS and lose the Pro functions? Or am I stuck doing a fresh windows xp install using home edition. I really don't need Pro at all and don't really want to spend 150 bucks to keep the Pro install on there.

CD are inter changeable to an extent, but the Key Codes aren't. The key codes are part of the activation process..
