CD ROM drives assigned wrong drive letters
I Had to format my hard drive and reinstall Windows xp profesional. All is well except for one thing, the drive letters assigned to my DVD drive and my CD ROM drive have been assigned the letters H and I respectively. Was always D and E prior to my reinstalling xp.
The letters D. E. F. G. have all been assigned to my card reader which is attached to a header on the motherboard. The card readerr has 4 slots and each of these are assigned as removable disks D through to G. I tried to change the drive letters by going through computer management but of course I cant change the drive letters to D and E because they are already assigned to the card reader and not available. what do I do here guys to get the letters D and E assigned to my DVD and CD drives as before. Thanks

Go in an re-assign the offending drives to something else, like X and Z, then you should be able to assign the problems to what you want, then reassign X & Z to the letters you want.

Its under Control Panel, Performance and Maintance. Click on Administrative Tools. Double click Computer Management. Then click Disk Management.
There you can select the appropriate letters. Hope this helps. Chris |
