selective startup - msconfig

I am trying to find a way to eliminate an entry in startup in msconfig (customer's computer). The offending program/file is songspy.exe. In the registry there were entries in Songspy which force startup. I uninstalled songspy from within it's folder. It did not have a program per say where I could choose to disable. Well, it is deleted, registry references are gone as well. I went by Reboot's instructions for getting rid of startup items in msconfig and was able to get rid of one entry (not songspy) but i cannot find anything about songspy in those areas and unless i check selective startup it keeps on cropping back up and, since the program is now gone, it searches for it on bootup. I am sure that if I leave this on selective startup with songspy unchecked that will not be permanent cause sooner or later after installation of some other program the selective startup will be unchecked and I'll have that darn problem again.
The instructions I followed that reboot had penned a while back are:

"Within the program itself, there must be an option to "Start when windows starts", which put's in a registry entry, OTHER than what's in msconfig/startup.
Antivirus programs, RealPlayer, RealJukebox, ZoneAlarm, and a host of others do this, (just to piss me off ) and you have to hunt for the disable in the program, THEN run msconfig to be rid of it.
If you've got multiple entries, and you'd like to be permanently rid of them forever, open Regedit, and go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Runonce
Delete the entries you don't want.
Then go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce
Delete any entries you don't want."

I cannot find a songspy entry in these parts of the registry but it is there in startup nonetheless.

hi tacoeater,
I'm not familiar with songspy but this link may help you out with identifying the source of the entry.

May you also like to take a look at WIN.INI > RUN and LOAD command lines..
then another one is START > PROGRAMS < STARTUP
and the last one is AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS which would eventually load the *.exe or a *.dll *.sys which in return would load the SONGSPY -
