MBR Problem?

due to some messing with partition magic i have managed to stop my PC from booting. to fix this i have created a floppy disk with the files setupldr.bin, boot.ini and ntdetect.com on it. obviously it isn't ideal to always have this floppy in the drive so i need to recreate the boot sector/MBR/boot.ini or whatever on the disk. have googled a bit but as i'm not actually sure what i need to recreate finding something productive has proven difficult.

thanks guys...

Try appropriate Recovery Console commands such as Fixmbr and Fixboot...

have tried using the recovery console you get by pressing R when you boot from the XP CD, fixmbr said "this isn't an MBR disk" or something and fixboot said it had failed. also tried bootcfg /rebuild, this didn't help either.

Send a message via AIM to Panama Red
Sounds like it's time for a repair/install of XP.

If you have the rescue disks from PM, you can boot off those and check that your main partition with winxp on it is set to be bootable. You can change that attribute in PM IIRC. If PM doesn't see the main winxp partition, you will have to reformat and reinstall.
