Explorer problem

I am working on a friends computer: HP 6460, and cannot get the web browser to open up. I can get into outlook express to download and check emails, but cannot open up any web page. This system is running win98 first edition with 96 meg ram.

Thanks

Send a message via AIM to MakeYourslf2012
you could try to download an alternitive browser, scuh as Opera or FF.

What version of IE are you using? 6.0?

That's the problem - I cannot use the web browser to get onto the internet to download anything. It has Explorer 5.5.

Open add/remove programs - find Microsoft IE 5.5, click add/remove, choose Repair from the options that are presented. If that doesn't fix it, do it again, this time choose restore previous version.

Thanks GLC - I kinda stumbled onto it...the content advisor was set so high it would not allow any websites to display. I disabled it them I got google to come up. I downloaded adaware and ran it - 173 items and 5 browser hijack attempts. I tried to download Microsoft's beta spyware program but it wouldn't take until I update explorer - I am in the process of downloading all the critical updates too. I am having another problem now, but I will start another thread.

Thanks - hoemee

Well hang on - I did what you said as far as selecting the repair option and a Content advisor warning came up - It said the check Content advisor settings for missing information. Click on tolls menu then click internet options. On the content tab, check the advisor settings...I get this now when I selcet the IE icon.....

Microsoft Antispyware won't install on 98.

Once I updated all the critical updates the warning message for content advisor went away. Everything works fine - thanks for the help.
