DFS config trouble
I am having trouble configuring DFS (Distributed File System).
We have a brand new NAS Unit (basically a big set of hard disks connected to the network) which is running Server Storage 2003 (this is a Cut down version of Server 2003), and it has been connected to the domain, it sees drive shares etc and is in Active directory.(So is on the network and function correctly) Now the client wishes to Replicate (mirror) 2 network shares back on the NAS as a backup. To do this I am told DFS will do the job. I create a Root file in DFS on the server and point it to a test directory. I then go to the NAS unit and try and connect to the DFS root file on the domain server. No matter what I try I keep getting Error: Specified domain does not exist or could not be contacted Now I read a lot of white papers and talk to some techs who have used this, but no one can tell me whats wrong. |

Hi Templar
Just noticed that there's not much response to your post here in the OS forums - since it's been a while, you could try posting in the Networking forum to see if the techs there can help. (Of course, it's entirely likely you've already figured it out yourself by now!). And welcome to the PC Mechanic forums. . . . Gary [If I had to guess, it might just be addressing grammar that's off a bit - but I'm not a network admin by any means!] |
