Recovering from the Winhound virus

My screen background was the virus presentation and I removed it. It is now white. When I right click on the screen to change the default picture, it will not let me change to one I selected, using pictures, selecting one and using Set as background desktop.

What am I doing wrong?

MK

What about right clicking the desktop, then properties, then the desktop tab, will it let you set it to be something in there???

Did you follow the steps in the smitrem.txt file? After running Ewido they recommend:

Quote:
* Go to Control Panel > Internet Options. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

* Next go to Control Panel > Display. Click on the "Desktop" tab then click the "Customize Desktop" button. Click on the "Web" tab. Under "Web Pages" you should see an entry checked called something like "Security info" or similar. If it is there, select that entry and click the "Delete" button. Click OK then Apply and OK.

* Restart back into Windows normally now.
Might work...

I tried and there is a single tab with no options, especially the configurable options to set it up.

Thanks anyway.

I'm not at that PC now but will certainly try it later when I get there.
