Windows XP Theme problems
So it started when I installed a light in my case to see if it works, when I started the computer the Boot in safe mode, boot in normal, etc, screen came up. Well, for some reason I chose the option "Boot up with last known working configuration (Or something like that). Well, bad idea. I had to reinstall my video drivers and now my Themes are messed up.
I right click on the desktop and go to Properties - Themes. In the drop down window there is no Windows XP option. So I hit browse, go to the windows folder - Resources and double click Luna.theme, then I get four errors in a row. I'm not sure what the problem is. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...eme_errors.jpg Following the errors instructions, I go to the administrator’s tools - services - themes. I tried restarting the service, but it couldn’t. After that I couldn’t even choose to start it. So I restarted the computer and went back to the services window, and started it. Then restart my comp. It seemed to do nothing, but here is a screen shot of it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ices_theme.jpg It may be a minor problem, but the new (or is it older...) look is driving me nuts, as well as Fire Fox looking different. I'm running Windows XP SP 1. Thanks |

Thanks Ghost, that kind of worked. Although now I have new problems.
I did a restore to earlier that day, and it worked. There where a few problems at first, windows had trouble booting. So I shut the computer down, waited like five seconds then turned the computer back on and it worked fine. But...I shut it down for the night and now the computer will not boot up. I'm in safe mode with networking now. When I boot up it gets past the Windows loading screen then I hear my Hard Drive speed up like its starting to load, but then something inside the computer clicks, then my monitor clicks (for that its usual, it does that when my comp starts up/shuts down, etc.) and restarts to do the same thing over again. I tried the start up with last known working configuration again and it worked, and then tried a system restore to three days ago. That didn’t work. I don't remember changing anything, except that I did download some anti virus/spyware programs. It did find some things and deleted them. Ah crap, I hope they didn't delete files that weren't really spyware/virus'. I did look the files up on google though and could hardly find anything on most of them. Also, after I did the first system restore my spysweeper came up and said there were files that are going to be started when windows starts. They seemed to be audio files so I let them start, also google didn't bring anything up. Of course...I could just use the "Last known configuration" option, but now I'm wondering if there really is something wrong. |
