Icon Spacing Problem
I'm have trouble getting my icon spacing to default. I set 'Use large icons' on the apperance options and when I turned it back off the icon size went to normal size but the spacing didn't change back. I tried rebuilding icons in TweakUI and setting both the horizontal and vertical spacing in the advanced options of the appearance tabe and it did nothing at all. I also tried 'Reset All Folders' in the folder options. Please help.

Have you tried applying another theme to it and see if it will reset? I always had so many problems when I fiddled with the Windows interface through other programs. I've learned my lesson.

Can you go back to a previous restore point? I don't know what to do otherwise. Last time I screwed up, I just reinstalled Windows and was done with the GUI mods for good.

Have you tried changing the icon spacing values manually?
Try this .. right click on the Desktop .. Properties ... Appearance tab ... Click the Advanced button > Item > Icon Spacing Horizontal .. change it to 43 (or lower) .. do the same for Icon Spacing Vertical. Click OK's through and then press F5 to refresh or reboot. |

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics
what are there values for the keys for you? IconSpacing ? IconVerticalSpacing ? AppliedDPI ? and BorderWidth ? Or try selecting the WindowMetrics and then right clicking > export > export it to a reg or a text file. Try uploading it here and we can try to see what could be wrong. Ok I was able to duplicate the issue with the values you submitted. Drop IconSpacing & IconVerticalSpacing to -1125 and I am back at the original display. I guess you might have to play around with it a bit to see what works for you.
You will need to reboot for registry values to take effect. |
