XP Hotfix KB885295
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;885295
Is there a link where I can simply just download this fix for my computer? It seems to happen so much to me lately, it's been happening for a while but it's done it 3 or 4 times whilst I've been downloading a demo from the Xbox Live marketplace which has really annoyed me. It just seems like a lot of hassle to have to call Microsoft just to get a download link, or them to email it or whatever - I aren't sure how it works. I've checked Google and it seems to be in a lot of hotfix 'superpacks' but never as a singular download. Thanks

The reason its not available for download is because it is probably under testing and they dont want to release it unless you are severely affected by it. At this stage your best bet is to contact MS Support, or if you arent that badly hit to wait for the next SP rollout. It might not be wise to download such packs from sources other than Microsoft because you have little or no way to determine if they really do what they're supposed to.

Ah, ok then. I think I will get in touch with them because it does happen on a regular basis.
Thanks for your help. |

They will not charge you for the support call if it is indeed a problem that is solved by their hotfix.
Good luck. |
