system wont boot to windows

I have windows xp sp2. Everytime i try to boot in to windows normally it goes through post, then the windows xp screen pops up and seems to boot but after a few seconds the pc just haults and reboots by itself. when i restore to an earlier time point it seems to boot fine but when i go to restart the pc again it just does the same thing. any ideas why that would be happening? thx for help

no not really..i mean its kinda hard to track down the minor changes i didnt really upgrade anythin big .. i reinstalled all drivers and seemed to boot up ok but when i go to restart it again haults and then restarts but then runs chkdsk and if i skip chkdsk it boots up normally to windows. its doing some strange things. i even ran different virus scans from avast and trend micro. trend micro found a few things but that didnt solve the problem. i dont understand why its doing this. plz help thx

You might need to roll the drivers back to the previous version.

Not sure how the restore point works when you have newer drivers than those from your restore point. Windows might automatically install the newer ones on the subsequent reboot.

I always use the rule of thumb that if the devices are all working, don't update the drivers... no need messing with something that is working.
