Problem with Explorer in XP Pro
A friend has a Dell laptop (about 6 mos old) that locks up when he goes into the Explorer and tries to open a file. Any ideas?

At what point is it locking up?
Guessing that opening Explorer is OK? If Right Clicking causes the issue then might want to check these out-> Temporary Decline in Performance Occurs When You Right-Click a File or Folder in Windows Explorer http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;819101 A Program Stops Performing a Task or Explorer.exe Uses 100 Percent of the CPU When You Right-Click an Item in Windows Explorer http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;819946 Csrss.exe uses 100% of the CPU When you Right-Click an item in Explorer http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;555021

He can open the Explorer, but when he double clicks to open the file, the lock up ocurs. Right clicking to open doesn't work either. I'll check out your links. Thanks.
