And when i do restart it does the same thing
Ive tried using the recovery partion on my hard drive and it said it succesfully recovered but it has not

Are you sure it said "compressed" and not corrupted or missing?

Repair install might help.

Popping the drive in another machine and then->

To resolve this issue, decompress the NTLDR file in the Windows folder. To do so:
1. Right-click the NTLDR file, and then click Properties.
2. Click to clear the Compress contents to save disk space check box, and then click OK.

(ntldr is a hidden file located in the root of C: )

Im not sure if one of my freind would appreciate me messing with their computer lol.
I have a recovery cd but it says its sucessfully recovered but it still says the same problem when i restart.

The "NTLDR is compressed" error can normally be cleared by running the commands CD \, then ATTRIB -C NTLDR from the Windows Recovery Console.

If that doesn't work, below is a link with a possible solution ($29.95). You can demo to see if it will work before buying.

I tried what you said and it did not work it just kept saying-
The command is not recognized.

And the other solution you provided the link for, surely there is another way of fixing my problem as i cannot copy the file off that link you provided as im curruntly using the Ubuntu linux live cd which will not allow me to save anything as its a live cd.
