Zipped/Compressed folder problem
Downloaded a folder the other day with a RAR ext. and to open the folder I installed a program called Zip genius. It did the job but its a free program and I got sick of the ads keep poppping up so I uninstalled it because I dont usually get any RAR folders to unzip anyway. Trouble is when I go to any zipped folders now and right click for the drop down menu, I dont get the option to extract or unzip the folder like I use to before I installed Zip genius.
How do I get this function back. I have restored my computer to before I installed Zip genius but still dont get the option with any zipped folders to extract or unzip them. I am running XP Home formatted NTFS. Any help appreciated guys.

What program were you using previously? If its a third party one just reinstall it and it should put those options on there again. It looks like Zip genius overwrote the old programs options. If your using winzip then i don't know what to tell you. On a side not if you want to keep .rar compatibily winRAR is a great program, its what i use for all of my compression needs. Its shareware and will remind you to register everytime you use it if you don't, but i personally don't find it all that annoying to click x.

If you want XP to handle your zip files. You need to do the following.
Go to Start > Run > and type this exactly: REGSVR32 zipfldr.dll and press OK. If that doesnt work you need to do this in Start > RUN > cmd /c assoc .zip=CompressedFolder HTH |
