Computer stops during POST, won't go into setup
Yesterday my computer started turning on every minute or so once I plugged my printer in via usb, so I thought it had something to do with a wake-on-usb feature or something. I went into the bios setup, couldn't find anything, and exited out without saving. Then my dad decided he would try to find the problem in the bios options, and being like he is decided to fiddle with other things. He changed the the AGP apeture size from 128mb to 256mb, and also changed my processor speed from 200 to 205 in this feature my mb has called "SuperSpeed," which he thought was just simple overclocking. To make a long story short, it messed something up and now my computer stops at this screen.
![]() An hour ago it would actually show the post screen once every few tries. It showed my processor model, amount of memory, and type of memory, but wouldn't go further and wouldn't go to bios setup. PS: Not sure if this will help, but bios options "superlogo" (shows whatever logo you want during boot, in this case just manufacturer logo) and "superboot" (skips some parts of post sequence to make booting faster) were enabled. My system specs are in my sig, I'm running XP Pro, and I have tried pretty much everything possible, keypresses/cds don't work. Thanks for any help, I will feel really stupid if I have to actually go to a computer repair place and pay outlandish fees to fix this...at $60 an hour I would rather just get a new mb, one much better than this. |

If the problem is just due to the changes your superdad did to the superlogo, by putting the thing into superspeed, than all you have to do is open the case up and use the clear cmos jumper according to the way the manual says to do it then put it back in the normal position and that will put the BIOS settings back to default and the PC should boot up OK. You'll have to put back any changes you need in your BIOS though that actually should be made there..

Hi you can like KT tells you or if you are unsure with jumpers and such, just take out the battery from the mobo for about 30 min that should reset evrything to default.
good luck
