I'm using it on my new build, BUT I would not recommend using it unless you like tinkering around or/and like searching for drivers or coming up with unique solutions. I would stick with regular Windows XP or dual boot the two Operating Systems that way you know you won't get stuck.

Yeah, i agree with strider. I tried XP 64 bit as it came with my college student license pack. Alot of windows components dont work well with 64-bit (i.e. You cant install the .NET framework 1.1, you need 2.0 64-bit beta, which wouldnt install properly for me). Theres a few bugs that MS needs to iron out before it can be a reliable OS.

Angry 64 bit woes

I would not recommend using the 64 bit xp pro yet. I set up a 5 node network using small business server premium and xp pro 64 bit on all of the clients on new builds with advanced chip/mobo setups and so far have had to jockey both network printers to use other drivers, and none of the versions of outlook have worked correctly. At first I had exchange server 03 setup and had sporadic connectivity between outlook and the exchange server, even though there were no other network problems. Then I had our hosting company host the networks email as web mail and configured the outlooks to pull it down as a pop3 and it's not working at all, even though they can go online and grab their email, so I know all of the mx records are correct, it's just not ready yet. Nobody at Microsoft has any acceptable answers as to why it's not working. Bottom line though, I'm going to have to eat some of my own time on a weekend in the near future and image all of the workstations and roll back these workstations to 32 bit versions of xp pro which sucks.

Here's what I am doing. You can download a trial version of Windows x64, which works for 120 days. I'm going to stick that on my new build and see if there are any issues. If so, I will stick with XP Pro. If not, then I will pay for the 64-bit license to be able to use it after the 120 days.
