Annoying little rectangles in taskbar

For several weeks I have had these annoying little rectangles appear at the bottom of my desktop. (It's like an open page, but blank.)Sometimes when I close a web page, but mostly in the mornings if I leave my pc on all night. Sometimes there's as many as 5 or six showing. They do disappear if I click on them, but I'd like to put a stop this. I always delete temp files, use avg regularly, housecall-trend micro, spybot, ad-aware, tweak- now reg. checker, none of that helps. How do I fix this?

Thank you!
Darlene

Well, now I can't figure out how to get the image to insert. I downloaded from my pc desktop but I can only use a web url. You probably know what I mean anyway

This has nothing to do with my screensaver as I don't close screensaver during the night. Only when a web page is closed.

I've done ALL the search things I can think of and microsoft, as far as I can find, doesn't give me much help with W98. Although it is in the search options, it only shows results for other versions.

Thanks!

OK...I don't mind admitting when I (might be) wrong. I was just messing with my screensavers and every time I closed out the preview pane, another one showed up, so.....you just might have something there!

I'll go back to your first link and see what I can do, but I just had to tell you first...THANK YOU!

I finally found the time to check this out.
I read all the info and found the easiest way to stop the rectangles is to locate the 260067un.inf file, click install, reboot and now they are gone for good!

I'd like to say THANK YOU a thousand times! I was so tired of those annoying little things....
Happy Holidays To All!
