Hi.
1 - I dont know since when, but my IE dont keep windows opened. I enter a site when just surfing the net and if I want see another url, other site, it closes always the first window. Some times I want keep 2 or 3 windows opened for compare or look for something and I cannot ! Just make me furious! I already saw all about IE tools, Options, or think so. May be some app I have installed, or tweek is doing this ? Waht can it be more...This doesn't happen when I use Firefox ! But almost all sites are made to be seen better in IE... and I need it quite operational! 2 - I build a litle home site, using Front Page (MS office). I used a template that has frames. It's all ok but when I need going directly to a complete url, the browser only display the right frame and not all page ! ie.: site - www.dimuka.pt.vu , if I want go to www.dimuka.pt.vu/Adm.html , the browser just show the right frame "Adm.html" and not show the left frame where I have the links "left2.html". But if I go to the site and open the link there, it is all ok! What I did wrong ? I use win xp pro sp2 - P IV 1.7 Mz- 1Gb DDR Mem -ECS board Elite Group-1024x768 my usual resolution -2 DVD +/- RW (int + ext) -Card readers - MS AntySpyware - AVG Antivirus -MS Office 2003. I Tweek my system with Registry Mechanics Sorry my poor english ! Tkz Last edited by Dimuka; 12-25-2005 at 10:05 AM. |

Hi Dimuka
In "Internet Options" for IE, try removing the checkmark in the box "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts" [that item is under the "Advanced" tab -"Browsing" menu] See if that helps. . . . Gary [and Welcome to the PC Mechanic forums] [P.S. ... and remember that IE doesn't feature tabbed browsing - - - Generally, see if opening an entirely new instance of IE allows you to keep another window open = it should. The next version of IE (IE 7) will allow tabbed browsing - until then, third-party add-in software is necessary.] Last edited by GaryRouth; 12-27-2005 at 04:39 AM. |

Hi Gary
I never use "reuse windows... in IE tools\Internet Options\Advanced", marked, just because of that. Some times, for a short seconds I get 2 IE windows opened shown in taskbar (down), but I have not even time to "alt x tab" or click in 2nd windows to insert a site url, the second windows desapear and IE window show the first window. It seams it doesn't want assume the 2nd instance or not having RAM memory enough. My pc is super loted, and I have only 1 Gb RAM... Well I'll keep trying and give news about. Need IE 7 ! Is it ok for install even with some litlle bits to tweak? ? Any link ? Correcting point 2 of first post - urls - http://pwp.netcabo.pt/vicvalle and http://pwp.netcabo.pt/vicvalle/Adm.html - I dont get this 2nd link open enterely ! Thanks anyway for your time and help. Just did a search of the MS Knowledge Base and came up with this. Don't know if it's the answer to your problem but it's worth checking out.

Hi Panama! I read this MS kb... but it's so old. I Think after several updates I did should not happen that. Even so I checked it and didn't see any strong diferences, unless I have one more key "Threading Model" without value in "HKeyClasses\Root\CLSID\79eac9f1-***" and "... 9f2..."
Otherwise I executed the usual regsvr32:urlmom.dll, shdocvw.dll,oleaut32.dll,mshtml32.dll,nrowseui.dll, shell32.dll - each one its time and replyed is OK.... I checked the HKLM|Software\classes\interface\... all referenced in MS Kb, and it's all ok. So I'll watching this for some time more to see what happens! Hugges. |

...And about my 2nd question, anyone to ... Site buildes with pages that use frames. One (left) with links. The other (right) showing de resulted link (selpages). Builded with MS front page 2003. Dont open all page (2 frames) when typed the enterely url. If I call a link inside site its all ok. If I call it outside site just come the right frame (selfpage) in local or net server. I am looking for a explanation and dont find. I used a template of frontpage itself. May be the problem can be the properties of the frames. I already have changed them, seeing properties of frames, as "self, whole, parent, etc" but I get nothng ! Just need anyone who knows enough frontpage, because I use flash now and dont quite remember enough Front Page, and need modify the old site..
